A few things about me

Tshediso Kabulu was born bred and raised in Welkom (Free State, RSA) where he started performing arts at a very young age working and participating in various township dance styles with the inclusion of music and drama. An international acclaimed choreographer, a performer, dance educator and a creative based in Durban South Africa who collaborates with internationally renowned choreographers across the spectrum of modern, ballet, contemporary, African contemporary, Hip – Hop and Afro - Beats.

Kabulu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Maths from the University of the Free State Bloemfontein but amongst all odds, still followed his passion and calling for arts. He started his first formal dance training in Bloemfontein in 2007 with Qhubeka Dance Productions then progressed with his apprenticeship in classical and contemporary training with the inclusion of Afro-fusion, Jazz and African Contemporary. Tshediso has worked as a professional dancer and dance educator for Flatfoot Dance Company (Durban, RSA) from and State of Emergency Productions (Taunton, England). He was temporarily appointed as a dance lecturer at Durban University of Technology’s Drama Department in 2018.

In 2019, Tshediso scaled to international heights as he was honoured to choreograph for Chicago’s world renowned Deeply Rooted Dance Theatre and America’s multi Grammy award – winner Donald Lawrence in their season called Goshen. Not only has he taught but also performed in America (Chicago), United Kingdom (London), Zimbabwe, Senegal and Nigeria as to mention a few. He’s choreographed for national televised events like Simon Sabelo Awards, KZN Sports Awards and DUT (Durban University of Technology)’s very own Dance Drama. A producer, theatre - maker and advocate for arts in his own right who uses poetry, indigenous music and dance as a device to story-tell relevant and thought provoking topics around the globe. With so many disheartening socio – economic destructions around the world, Tshediso intention is to bring awareness and conversation about our current surrounding occurrences.
